Resumo

Uma suposição comum sobre a tese da indeterminação da tradução holofrástica de Quine é que sua principal razão é a sua tese da subdeterminação de teorias pelas observações. Quine de fato empregou esse argumento. No entanto, sua formulação madura da tese da subdeterminação tornou o argumento inválido, o que o levou a abandoná-lo. Este artigo explica essa mudança no pensamento de Quine e indica as suas razões maduras para indeterminação da tradução holofrástica.
