As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The contribution is original and unpublished, and it is not being evaluated for publication by any other journal, otherwise it must be justified in “comments for the editor".
  • The text follows the style and bibliographical requests described at Authors’ guidelines, to be found at the page “About the Journal”.
  • The file and the text do not have any kind of author's identification.

Rules for the submission of original texts

Articles or book reviews may be submitted by professors or researchers associated with Brazilian or international research institutions who possess a doctorate degree or doctors in conjunction with collaborators. Articles written by masters or doctorate students will be accepted only in exceptional cases, such as book reviews or dossier that may have invited authors.

Authors must create a login and password in the system by registering and following its step-by-step instructions (see step-by-step screens).

Articles and book reviews are accepted in the following languages: Portuguese, English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. Articles must have a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 25 pages. Book reviews must have a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 6 pages.

O que nos faz pensar does not allow the publication of articles by the same author in editions published close to each other.

Articles sent for publication in the journal O que nos faz pensar must address the subject proposed in the call for publication. Articles out of the subject may be accpeted, but will depend on availability. Texts must be organized as follows:

1. Standard Microsoft Word texts (.doc or .docx);

1.1 The file cannot be identified using the author’s data. The works submitted shall be associated with the metadata provided at the time of submission and shall be recognized by the system. For this reason, it is essential that attention is paid to the correct provision of such information, particularly when more than one author is involved.

2. A4 paper format, with upper and lower, right and left margins of 2 cm;

3. The works must be presented in the following sequence:

• title in the original language (if the article is not written in Portuguese)
• title in Portuguese;
• title in English (if the article is not written in English);
• abstract in the original language (if not written in Portuguese), with a limit of 1,000 characters including spaces;
• abstract in Portuguese, with a limit of 1,000 characters including spaces;
keywords: a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 keywords in Portuguese, separated by semi-colons;
abstract in English (if the article is not written in English), with a limit of 1,000 characters including spaces;
keywords: a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 keywords, separated by semi-colons, in English;
• body of the text in Times New Roman font, with justified paragraphs and spacing of 1.5; for a running text and citations of up to 3 lines, use size 12; for citations of more than 3 lines, use size 12 with a 2cm indentation to the left, in italics; for explanatory notes in the footnotes of the page, use size 10 and simple spacing;
• full references at the end of the text.

4. References cited throughout the text must appear on their respective pages as footnotes, with the author’s name in lowercase.

5. All references must be presented together in complete form at the end of the article, in the section “References”, in alphabetical order by surname, in capital letters, in accordance with the model below:

 5.1. Only the references actually cited should be listed at the end of the text.

 5.2 The references must comply with the norms of the ABNT (Brazilian Association of Technical Norms), in accordance with the examples below:

In the case of online documents, present the URL between the < > marks, preceded by the expression “Available at:”, and conclude with the date accessed, as in the example taken from the ABNT manual:

Conditions for submission

As part of the submission process, authors are obliged to verify the compliance of the submission will all the following items. Submissions that do not comply with the norms shall be returned to the authors.

1. The contribution is original and previously unpublished, and is not being reviewed for publication by another journal; if this is not the case, justification must be provided in “Comments for the editor”.

2. The submission file is in the.DOC, .DOCX or .RTF format.

3. URLs for the references were informed where possible.

4. The text contains spacing of one and half in the body of the text, Times New Roman font, size 12; the figures and tables (if there are any) are duly identified; and it possesses a maximum length of 25 pages, including bibliographical references, and annexes and/or appendices.

5.The text conforms to the style and formatting standards described in Directives for Authors (above), on the page About the Journal.

6. In case of submission to an area with a peer review process (e.g.: articles), the instructions available at Ensuring a double-blind peer review must be followed.
