Abstract
O artigo pretende compreender a leitura de Octavio Paz acerca da história do México nos séculos XIX e XX a partir do tratamento de alguns de seus aspectos centrais – como a independência, as reformas liberais, o Porfiriato e a Revolução Mexicana. O objetivo é sublinhar a importância desta história para a sua interpretação do México e do mexicano e analisar a centralidade do tema da revolução na obra do autor.
