The Prussian friends. Episodes in Spinoza’s reception during the 18th century
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article presents some episodes in the history of the reception of Spinoza’s philosophy in Germany during the second half of the 18th century, through the ties of deep and lasting friendship between many of the main characters of this story. That friendship was founded, to some extent, in the shared admiration towards Spinoza; but it was also fertile soil for new interpretations and new readings of his doctrine. Thus, adopting this perspective to address the German reception of Spinozism allows to reflect on the connection between philosophy and love.
