Abstract

Carrying out a comparative analysis between its primary sources, this article is about the construction of the “ideal city” in the works of Plato and Aristophanes and their correlate conceptions of citizenship, proposing, specifically, that the foundation of the city, as exposed in the Republic, is in close dialogue and in intense confrontation with the creation of the city comically conceived by Aristophanes in The Birds.

Alexandre da Silva Costa, Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF)

Professor adjunto do Departamento de Filosofia da Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF). Possui graduação em História pela Universidade Federal Fluminense (1994), mestrado em Filosofia pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1998), doutorado em Filosofia pela Universität Osnabrück, Alemanha (2009) e um segundo doutorado em filosofia pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (2010). Pós-doutor pelo programa de pós-doutorado regular da FAPESP junto ao Departamento de Música da USP-Ribeirão Preto, na área de teoria musical na Antiguidade. Em função desta pesquisa, concluiu também um pós-doutorado no Institut für klassische Philologie da Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, na qualidade de bolsista de Pós-doutorado BEPE da FAPESP. Integrante do Laboratório OUSIA (IFCS/UFRJ) de pesquisa em filosofia antiga e do Laboratório Aporia, Núcleo de Filosofia Antiga (ICHF/UFF). Tem experiência na área de Filosofia, com ênfase em filosofia antiga (e na relação que o pensamento contemporâneo com ela estabelece), estética, fenomenologia e ética.
