The fundamental role of Princess Elisabeth in the writing of Recherche de la Vérité by René Descartes
Main Article Content
Abstract
The purpose of this article is to analyze Descartes' relationship with Princess Elisabeth as a fundamental element for the dating of The Search for Truth. The only dialogue written by Descartes, the unfinished work is the subject of several controversies. The disagreement between commentators with regard not only to the date, but also to the philosophy presented in the text, is evident. Trying to bring new light in to this debate, we seeks, through a unique element, Descartes' relationship with the princess, to find favorable indications to a late date, contrary to the current tendency to defend the text as a work of young age.
