On the matter of the tragic in the practical philosophy of Paul Ricoeur

Abstract
Paul Ricoeur develops in his “little ethics” (fifth, sixth, and seventh studies of Oneself as another) an analysis of human capability of acting as aiming at “the good life with and for others, in just institutions”. He deals initially with two levels of the moral judgement, the good and the obligation, referred respectively to the Aristotelian and the Kantian moral philosophy. The seventh study examines the possibilities of a practical wisdom engaged with the predicate “equitable”. It begins with the interlude called “Tragic action”. Being just relates the equitable action to the tragic, which is sometimes in ethical life. In this paper we would like to deal with these issues.
